The Area of Professional Development of the Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Scientists (Alicia Koplowitz Foundation) was set up in June 2016 and is coordinated by Marta Rapado. Participation in the work group is voluntary and open to all members, as it is with the work groups. The work group members have committed to working for one year until renewal of the work groups at the General Members’ Meeting in June 2017.
Our main objective is to promote professional development activities alongside improving all-round training of Association members and their professional development.
At the Association we advocate the continuous professional development (CPD) of our members through a suite of training courses already set up by other similar organisations and institutions, including the Scientific Conference on Child and Adolescent Mental Health organised by the Alicia Koplowitz Foundation. We also encourage attendance at the various annual members’ meetings which present advances made and/or training completed by Association members which may interest the work group. This year the work group is launching and organising a suite of courses aimed at strengthening training and CPD:
- Clinical Practice: selected training courses for mental health professionals based on the themes covered at the 12th Scientific Conference on Child and Adolescent Mental Health organised by the Alicia Koplowitz Foundation.
- Research: professional development for researchers through refresher courses which take a global perspective on child and adolescent mental health and neurosciences, including clinical aspects of training and reliability of various scales and basic clinical research, in addition to applied methodology.
We would like members to use the Area of Professional Development as a tool for their own development, both in terms of carrying out their professional clinical work and contributing to scientific advances in this discipline, through the best specialist training.
